With barely a week after the commencement of the successful 2015 Nigeria’s general election, some serving Corps members of the National Youth Corp Service (NYSC) scheme have basked in the ambiance of resentment, demanding the payment of the remaining 50% of their allowances for the roles they played during the polls.

Majority of the Corps member who conducted the elections in Benue State have yet to be paid 50% of their allowance.

It would be recalled; the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier Gen. Olawumi Johnson expressed concerns on the delay of payment of Corps members’ INEC elections duty allowance.

He further requested through the scheme’s official twitter account, @NYSC_NG, that all corps members who participated in the elections should exercise patience, as everyone will be paid.

A breakdown of the approved allowance for corps members participating in each of the elections:

1. Honorarium – ₦9,000 per election

2. Transportation -₦3,000 per election

3. Feeding allowance -₦1,000 per election

In literal expression, each corps member should be paid a total sum of ₦26, 000 for both elections – ₦13, 000 a piece – But as it is now, most of the Corp members in Benue have only been paid ₦13, 000.

The colossal question is when will the remaining PAY DAY be?

Meanwhile, some ex-corps members, who worked as assistant polling officers in Kwara State have lamented the non-payment of their allowances by the State’s Independent National Electoral Commission, urging it to pay without further delay.

Corps members also staged a peaceful protest in Calabar demanding the payment of their allowances for the functions they carried out during the March 28th Presidential and National Assembly elections in Cross River State.

The Nigerian Government in conjunction with the INEC should review reasons to the delay of payment of the meagre allowance so as to quell the already boiling tempers of the Not-pleased Corp members.

Showdown In Ekiti As Fayose Mobilises Okada Riders,nurtw

Tension is building up in Ekiti State as Governor Ayo Fayose asked the people to defend the mandate they gave to him following the impeachment process initiated by the All Progressives Congress lawmakers in the state assembly.

Already three groups, the Okada Riders Association, Road Transport Workers Association of Nigeria and National Union of Road Transport Workers have put their members on notice to look out for the APC lawmakers apparently to forestall their impeachment.
The 19 APC lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly had two weeks ago served a notice of impeachment on Mr. Fayose, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, who was sworn into office last October.

The lawmakers were away from the state until recently, following the victory of the APC in the presidential election. During their absence, seven PDP legislators were performing legislative duties which many consider illegal.

Mr. Fayose, who sounded conciliatory after the Supreme Court affirmed his election last week, made a live television broadcast on Sunday asking Ekiti people to defend their mandate from the APC lawmakers, who he claimed were invading the state to impeach him.
He urged drivers and okada riders in particular to move out en masse to defend his mandate, saying: “My mandate is your mandate and you must defend it.”

The governor made the broadcast about twenty minutes after leaving a church service where a clergyman advised him to embrace peace and reconcile with the APC lawmakers by restoring their salaries and other benefits to enable them do their jobs.

Shortly after leaving the church, two statements emerged on the state radio as public announcements that were being broadcast intermittently.
A public announcement by the Chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Niyi Dahunsi “All Okada riders in Ekiti State are enjoined to be on the look-out for strange faces in the state from tomorrow. This is because it has been gathered that APC lawmakers working with Dr Adewale Omirin are planning to truncate the peace of the state by planning to invade the state with armed thugs.

“All Okada riders in the state should be mobilised to the House of Assembly by 6am tomorrow. Governor Fayose’s mandate is the mandate of okada riders. We must defend it with the last drop of our blood.”

The Chairman of Road Transport Workers Association of Nigeria, Samuel Agbede, and his counterpart in the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Clement said, “Information available to us is that the APC lawmakers are planning to invade the state with lorry-loads of thugs recruited from Lagos and Osun states tomorrow.

“The APC lawmakers have vowed to kill any one that stands on their way to achieving the plot of impeaching Governor Fayose and his Deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola.

“We therefore alert all members of our union to be on the look-out from tomorrow. All driver unions’ members should be prepared to defend the mandate freely given to Governor Fayose.

“Our members should monitor movement of vehicles into Ekiti State from today so as to prevent invasion of thugs whose only intention is to kill our people. We gave our mandate to Fayose and we must be prepared to defend it.”

Communities Where Residents Use Same River For Cooking, Drinking and Defecating

Barely 10 metres from where the children were defecating in the waters on that warm Tuesday evening, some middle-aged women stooped and scooped some water into empty buckets, at a distance not too far away from where some men were having their baths - in the riverine community of Angiama, a 40-minute speedboat ride from the capital city, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Leaving Angiama and taking a five-minute boat ride to Oporoma, the biggest local government area headquarters in the state (Southern Ijaw), the story was not in any way different.

In many of the coastal communities in the oil-rich Bayelsa State, there are thousands of households whose situations are similar to what is obtained in Angiama and Oporoma as a large number of them rely on rainwater as their source of drinking, washing and cooking.

But even in the rainy season, the people fetch water to keep for the rainy days. And when the rain goes – and the sunny period comes – there is an automatic switch of dependence on the large mass of water that connects the communities together.

Since goods and people are carried through boats from one place to another, the water also serves as the only mode of transportation. Also, close to the jetties in virtually all the communities Saturday PUNCH toured were makeshift toilets built entirely on the waters – where men and women go to defecate and dump refuse. And when it is time for recreation, both the young and the old in these communities jump into the large mass of water to swim. The water has served these communities many purposes in many years and residents were hopeless the situation would change anytime soon.

Imomotimi Ibolo, 35, relocated from Yenagoa to Oporoma about three years ago due to his missionary work and it’s been a hell of an experience, according to him. The shift from a taste of the fairly good life in the city to a poor one in the rural area had given his mind several struggles in time past whether to quit, “but for the love of what I do, I have encouraged myself to stay.”

“We use the water for virtually everything. During the rainy season, rain is our source of water and we make sure we fill every bucket and keg in the house that will carry us to the next time that rain would fall. Thankfully, when it is rainy season here, rain falls almost every day heavily, so we don’t lack water. We fetch, sieve and keep,” he said.

Gesticulating as he took our correspondent to the shoreline, Ibolo dipped his hands into the slowly flowing mass of the water, used his fingers to separate some particles from the water and soaked his mouth into his hands full of it. “Now that the rain is gone, this is what many of us drink. On the day I first arrived in this community, I was terrified when I saw people (including children) drinking this dirty water and I wished there was something I could do to change the situation. How ironical to say I have joined them in drinking from this same source!” he added.

The principal of the Southern Ijaw Secondary School, Oporoma, Mr. Austin Sofoni, said if there were good infrastructure in the region, none would have to drink the river water again, thereby reducing the outbreak of waterborne diseases in both the community and neighbouring ones.

"We have councillors and senators and they know what is happening in Oporoma here. They know our problems. They know we don't have roads and water facilities. If there are roads that connect the riverine communities with Yenagoa, development would take place. Traders who transport bottled and sachet water and other goods here sell them at exorbitant prices due to the high cost of water transportation. If there are roads that connect everywhere together, this problem would be solved, I believe."

Armed Robber Mistakenly Shoots Gang Leader In Enugu

There was confusion in the band of a notorious robbery gang that has been terrorising Enugu State and other parts of the south east of the country as the police in the state has arrested one of the most wanted armed robber in Nigeria, Afam Omoba alias Obosi, after he was allegedly shot by a member of his own gang who missed his target during an operation in Eziobodo, Amechi Idodo near the state capital.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ebere Amaraizu, Obosi who has evaded the police for several years, was brought to nabbed by police operatives attached to Amechi Idodo when the gang attempted to rob a victim in his house.

But a young man in the residence they had gone to attack resisted the hoodlums’ order that the victims should bring all the money they kept in the house and in the confusion that ensued, one of the gang members tried to shoot the guy but missed the target and instead he shot Omoba in the leg.

It was the sound of the gunshot that attracted the attention of the people in the neighbourhood which made the members of gang to flee. The robbers took along the injured Omoba but their escape was short-lived as a police patrol team arrived and gave the suspects a hot chase.
The PPRO said that policemen combed the bush towards the direction the hoodlums ran to and eventually arrested Omoba.

Couple Stabs 10 Years Old Girl In Her Vagina In Lagos (Graphic Picture)

A 10-year-old girl, Chidinma, has been admitted at an undisclosed hospital after a couple – Eucheria Chukwuma and Jerry Oko-Oboh – allegedly beat her up and stabbed her in the private parts with a broken bottle.

It was learnt that the couple and the victim’s family lived on Joshua Street, Agbabiaka, in the Ajangbadi area of Lagos.

It was learnt that the couple assaulted the minor for allegedly fiddling with the vagina of their three-year-old daughter, Peace.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Chidinma, who denied the allegation, had played with Peace at about 7pm on April 6. It was alleged that the toddler later cried and told her parents that Chidinma fiddled with her private parts.

Angered by the complaint, 30-year-old Chukwuma, it was learnt, went to Chidinma’s mother, Ofia, demanding that Chidinma follow her to her room.

A few minutes later, Ofia reportedly heard her daughter screaming and rushed to Chukwuma’s apartment to see what was wrong.

On getting there, the door was said to have been locked by the couple who reportedly beat up the victim repeatedly with punches. Not satisfied, the wife allegedly stabbed Chidinma in the private parts and smeared them with pepper.

Our correspondent was told that the couple fled the neighbourhood when blood started gushing from Chidinma’s vagina. They were later trailed and arrested by the police after the attack was reported at the Okokomaiko Police station.

The police said Chukwuma, in a statement she voluntarily made at the station, confessed to the crime, saying she became furious when the girl declined comments about Peace’s allegation.

She and her husband were subsequently arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on three counts bordering on assault.

The offence, according to the police prosecutor, Olusoji Ojaokomo, is punishable under sections 171, 243 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

The charges read in part, “That you, Eucheria Chukwuma, 30 and Jerry Oko-Oboh, 32 on April 6, 2015, at about 9pm on Joshua Street, Agbabiaka, Oke-Agbo, Ajangbadi, in the Ojo Magisterial District, did conspire to commit felony and unlawfully assaulted one 10-year-old Chidinma, by beating her up with fist blows in her eye, which caused her harm.

“That you, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Chindima by stabbing her with a broken bottle in her private parts.”

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The presiding magistrate, Mr. P.A. Adekomaya, admitted them to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with a surety each in like sum. He added that they be remanded in prison custody until their bail conditions were perfected.

The case was adjourned till May 13, 2015 for mention.

Cultists Attack & Poison 17-Year-Old Student Over Refusal To Join Lesbian Fraternity

Suspected members of a notorious female cult group in the Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University(NDU) in Ammassoma community of Southern Ijaw Area of the State weekend attacked a 17-year-old student after she declined their offer of membership.

The suspected cult members, who were reportedly led by one Annabela, a final year student of the Education Department of the institution, allegedly attacked their victim at Hostel “F” of the institution and injected her with a strange substance after subjecting her to severe torture.

The victim of the attack is a daughter to a lecturer in the institution and a student of the Economics department.

While some students claimed the attack on the victims was due to domestic squabbles among room mates,others claimed the victim ran into trouble waters with the suspected cultists due to her strict Christian ways and refusal to accept advances to belong to the notorious cult group which is notorious for lesbianism and other vices on campus.

A friend to the victim who identified herself as Claire said the victim was attacked at about 4am last Tuesday in her hostel room.

“She was tied to a chair and severely beaten by four girls. Her hair attachment was forceful removed and she was injected with substances that made her behave in a crazy manner for days.When the attackers saw that the girl had fainted,they brought her out of the room in the early hours of morning, and they were apprehended.”

Leadership gathered that investigation into the incident, which was reported to the Students’ Senate Disciplinary Committee, had begun and its outcome would be made known to the institution’s authorities this week.

3 Major Nigerian Problems Buhari Should Tackle

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has listed three major challenges facing Nigeria’s economy that the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari needs to tackle.

According to Dangote, Buhari needs to make unemployment, increased power generation and corruption his top priorities after his swearing-in on May 29.

Speaking in an interview with This Day, Dangote pointed out that the business community in the country is set to back Buhari’s administration.

He explained that with President Goodluck Jonathan conceding defeat, the confidence of investors all over the world has been boosted, adding that the business community would wax stronger if the president-elect tackles some urgent needs of the economy.

Speaking on unemployment, Dangote said: “It is a great and pervasive problem in Nigeria. But the point must be made that it is not peculiarly a Nigerian problem. All over the world, there are growing issues of unemployment. And what we are saying is that the in-coming government can achieve a remarkable success in this regard if it declares an emergency on unemployment and tackle it decisively. You know the organised private sector will or should play a key role in this. And that is why we are concerned.”



He further lamented the extent of damage corruption has done to Nigerian economy, describing it as a “big cankerworm that has really eaten deep into the fabric of our nation.”

“The malaise of corruption is a threat to the survival of the Nigeria economy, no doubt. We must all therefore rise in unison to tackle the menace both in the public and private sector of the economy. The Buhari-led government can show a lot of strength on this issue by showing direction, by demonstrating commitment to ridding every sector of the economy of this malaise.

“I can tell you that a lot will change in Nigeria if this issue is tackled decisively,” Dangote said.
The businessman called on Buhari’s administration to revisit the ongoing privatisation programme in the energy sector with a view to growing the energy capacity of the country.

According to him, if there is increased electricity output, there would be industrial growth and even the small and medium scale businesses which are dying because of insufficient energy supply, would begin to experience boom again.

Dangote is a Nigerian billionaire businessman, who owns the Dangote Group, which has interests in commodities. The company operates in Nigeria and other African countries, including Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa, Togo and Zambia.

Dangote is rated by Forbes Magazine as the 67th richest person in the world and the richest in Africa, with a net worth of $14.7Billion.
His major businesses span cement production, sugar production as well as several other business concerns.

He recently got into the oil and gas sector with a plan to build a refinery with the capacity to process 650,000 barrels per day, thus making it the single largest stream in the world.Describing the present situation where Nigeria produces crude but goes abroad to buy refined products as unacceptable, Dangote had explained that his refinery was ready to reverse the trend just as it has successfully done in other sectors like sugar and cement.

Shocking ! 23 Year Old Female Arrested For Stabbing Colleague To Death During An Argument (Photo)

Yusuf Monsurat (23), a student of D.S. Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State pictured above has been arrested by the Ogun state Police command for stabbing her colleague, Eric Moses, to death in their school hostel following an argument on March 17th.

According to Tribune, Monsurat who claims not to know how the incident happened, was a close friend of the deceased until she began to suspect him of being a cult member.

This made her withdraw from him and even withdrew more after Eric confessed to her that he was indeed a cult member.

Monsurat says she had a dream on the day of the incident and in the dream, she saw Moses and herself engaged in a quarrel, and Moses slapped her in the dream.

She said as soon as she woke up, she approached one of her friends who she narrated her dream to.

As she was narrating her story, she said Moses overheard, approached her and picked a quarrel with her.

An argument ensued and before she knew it, Moses began beating her.

She claims Moses then picked up a knife to stab her but she defended herself and the knife pierced his neck, leading to his death.

“I am from Kwara State. I am in my second year studying Business Administration. I can’t really remember what happened. Only God knows. He was my hostel mate.

Sincerely, speaking, I can’t really remember anything. God knows. I have not been feeling fine.

It is just like a dream. We had a normal argument that could come up between students that day.

I sat in front of my room when he came. All I remember was that he wanted to stab me with a knife.

We started struggling with the knife and in the process of defending myself, the knife pierced his chest.

He later fell. I don’t know what came over him that made him take a knife to want to stab me.”she said

Ogun state Police command spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident and said she will be charged to court soon.

Abati Reacts To Punch Story On N2tr

Goodluck Jonathan denies spending 2 trillion naira

FULL TRANSCRIPT OF REUBEN ABATI’S INTERVIEW WITH STATE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS ON THE SUNDAY PUNCH FRONT PAGE STORY OF APRIL 19, 2015 TITLED “JONATHAN DEMANDS N2tn ELECTION FUNDS REFUND, AUDIT”

The front-page story of the Sunday Punch of April 19 alleging that the Presidency spent a whopping N2 trillion on the 2015 General elections, and that a Committee of Five has been set up by President Jonathan to conduct an audit of how the funds were disbursed by party members and state officials is mischievous, false and embarrassing.

The President has not set up any committee as alleged in that story. It is also not true that the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party used state funds, or spent N2 trillion during the campaigns. The innuendoes are wrong-headed; the motives behind the story are suspicious.

The story alleges, for example, that the Presidency spent N2trillion on elections and embarked on a money-sharing spree to party members, support groups and state officials. The authors of the story and their self-appointed megaphones further insinuate that public funds were deployed in this regard. Their allegation of a theft of public funds is extremely malicious.

How much is the budget of the Federal Government of Nigeria? The annual budget of the Federal Government is a little over N4 trillion. The story is practically suggesting that half of the federal budget was spent on elections. This kind of reckless insinuation is meant to incite the public and instigate national crisis.

With FAAC having to do everything possible every month to ensure disbursements and with the Federal Government heavily committed to the war against terror in the North East, where is the alleged N2 trillion from the Federal purse? President Jonathan and the People’s Democratic Party conducted the 2015 elections in strict accordance with the rule of law. The suggestion of any unlawful conduct cannot be sustained under any circumstances.

President Jonathan has done his best to protect and strengthen democracy and promote peace. He justly deserves all the accolades that he has received from both Nigerians and the international community for this. Certain persons and interest groups may not be happy that his profile has further risen and that his legacy is assured; but they do their country gross disservice when they act so unpatriotically.

Anyone who is engaged in imposing a crisis on the country by any means is not being fair to Nigeria. We can only appeal to the public to be wary of such reckless tactics now on display, which form the substance of an odd, malicious campaign after the elections.

We are particularly worried that since the March 28 and April 11 elections, some persons have continued to work very hard to diminish the Jonathan Presidency. They need to be reminded that the time for politics is over; it is now time to focus on the in-coming government, with emphasis on national development and moving the country forward.

His terrible experience at the church today

My friend who's a worker in a new generation pentecostal church (I won't mention names) invited me to his church. Although I don't normally go to church VERY EARLY, he succeeded in persuading me to go early with him because as a worker, he should be in church very early and he knew fully well that if we didn't go together, I wouldn't go; so he succeeded in dragging me along.

When we got to church, they started their normal Sunday School like chit-chat and later praises, worship songs and the service started proper. Born into an Apostolic-inclined orthodox and later crossed over to RCCG, I wasn't at home with the mode and method of their service. I was getting bored and feeling out of place while silently praying for the service to end. Then it came to things like "run to five people and tell them greater things are coming your way this week, you must run o", "grab the person beside you and shake him happy sunday". I was getting tired and shaking my head in despair.

The worms in my stomach were not helping matters, they launched a massive #BringBackOurFood protest because I couldn't take breakfast before leaving for church. The only thing that kept on pushing me on was the hope that the pastor would soon say "run to 5 people and hug them happy sunday". I would gladly and patiently look for 5 beautiful sisters with their killing mini/pencil skirts and tight-fitting shirts to hug but unfortunately, that command never came. All those times, I was feeling frustrated already and whenever my eyes meet those of my friend where he was standing with the engines and mixers, he gives me that "padi no vex we go soon finish" smile.

Just as I was resigning to fate and hoping that the service would soon end and I would bolt home the worst of it happened. The pastor had been preaching for close to 45mins harping on the need to give and sow as good Christians. He gave several examples in the bible of people who gave and later reaped God's blessings. He urged us to give and test God. After that, it was time to give offering. The offering was going to be in two parts; normal Sunday offering and the commitment towards the church building because their auditorium is under construction. We gave offering and afterwards the pastor came back on the pulpit and started complaining why people refused to give generously despite taking us on a journey through the word of God about the essence of giving in a Christian life. He preached for another 10mins. I wasn't even listening to him again because I was gradually dozing off.

What actually jolted me back into reality were these words "now it's time for operation search your neighbour". I sat up immediately to listen well and that was when I heard the pastor saying

"this is time for operation search your neighbour, search your neighbour's bag, wallet, purse or pockets as need be and bring out the contents, if there is no money there return the bag but if there is money bring it out, we must learn to give to God. He gave us the money and we must return it to him".

After all those words, people took the bag of the person sitting beside them while the pockets or wallets of brothers were being searched.

The brother beside me was taking his hands towards my pockets about to begin his own search when I said with venom in my eyes and in a Russian mafian voice

"What do you think you want to do??"

He replied me

"You heard what the pastor said brother".

I told him not to even contemplate trying it. He was then trying to pacify me and cajole me telling me there is no harm in giving towards God's work. I told him I'm not against giving but I'm against collecting by force. This is no more giving, this is collecting. He smiled at my words and said

"My brother it's the same thing, God's blessing awaits the two"

and he made for my pockets again, I felt that my phonetics were not having any effect and I replied with

"Bros abeg no try that thing o, I swear I go change am for you".

He was shocked.

One usher noticed us and came to us and he was trying to calm me down because my voiced had changed as my face too.

My friend remained where he was to avoid being seen as the person that brought Orubebe to church. I don dey para for them like mad and the people sitting around us were trying to pacify me. I said "Okay, no problem," carried my bible and.............................with one last Dracula look I told the usher

"Please don't even try to follow me".

He remained rooted to the spot and I made my way out of the church and straight home.

Mozambican man, Emmanuel Sithole Stabbed To Death In South Africa

People stood by while a Mozambican man, Emmanuel Sithole, was cornered, stabbed in the heart and left to die.

This happened yesterday in Johannesburg and yes, he died from his wounds.

Killed just for being from another African country.. and the story told by the journalist who witnessed this brutal stabbing is heartbreaking!

Shortly before 7am yesterday April 18th, Sunday Times journalists were in Alexandra township, near Sandton, speaking to shop owners who had their businesses looted overnight.

Children played, people walked the streets, some stopped to gawk at the carnage from the night before. Then this happened …

In a gutter in Alexandra a Mozambican man stopped and lay down. The gash to his chest meant he could go no further.


At the day clinic less than 100m away they could not help him.

The doctor scheduled to be on duty did not show up because he was a foreigner and feared being a victim of xenophobia.

It began on Friday night when mobs blockaded Arkwright Avenue, one of the main thoroughfares in Alexandra, with rubble and burning tyres.

Foreign-owned shops’ roofs were ripped open and metal gates torn away as looters went on the rampage.




Outside one spaza shop, a man in a black corduroy jacket and red shirt was walking along the road.

Suddenly a young man dressed in a grey tracksuit jacket beat him over the head with a wrench.

The red-shirt man tried to fend off the blows, his arms raised.

He stumbled back, falling into rubbish strewn by the roadside.

The blows with the wrench rained down. Then the bludgeoning stopped and the man with the wrench moved away.

“Are we safe here?” asked a South African woman watching the attack.

The man in the red shirt got up. Now another man with a beige spottie approached, holding an okapi knife high above his head.

Again, the man in the red shirt raised his hands, pleading for mercy.

But his pleas were in vain. He was stabbed … again and again



The two grappled and fell to the floor. The man with the wrench returned. Finally, a lanky young man sprinted towards the man among the rubbish, kicking him in the head.

The young man pulled a butcher’s knife. A man in a black leather jacket who had discouraged the attack grabbed the wrist with the butcher’s knife. The attackers fled.





The red-shirt man tried to get up but fell. Finally he made it to his feet. Feebly, he walked up the road.

Do you know why they attacked you? Who are you? Where are you from, we asked him.

He turned his head towards the questions fired at him, his face pleading.

He said nothing. His shirt was drenched, a 2cm gash in his chest.

Metres further he stumbled and lay down in the gutter. He struggled to sit up and fell down




Help me get him into the car. Help me, please,” said photographer James Oatway, looking around at the men gathered around him. One stepped forward, reluctantly.

Up the road, at Alexandra Day Clinic, nurses did what they could. There was no doctor; he would have to be taken to Edenvale Hospital.

Along the way the man was flailing wildly, sitting up, lying down, wincing with pain. The wound to his chest was gushing now.

At Edenvale Hospital a lone gurney stood at the entrance. The porters sat in a room with tinted windows. Oatway pleaded for help. The man in the car was critical, he said.

Slowly one porter rose and scribbled in a book. Then the other, both now ambling towards the hospital entrance. Inside the car the red-shirt man looked lifeless.




“He’s dead. We can’t take him,” one porter pronounced.

There was no pulse. Then a gag reflex. He’s alive.

Inside the ICU, doctors compressed his chest, massaging his heart. After nearly seven minutes a ventilator was used.

Shortly after 9am Emmanuel Sithole was pronounced dead. He was Mozambican. The stab wound to his chest had penetrated his heart.

In his pockets, R285 and 10c in change and a cellphone. His phone would ensure he did not die nameless.

On his wrist, three armbands read: “United for Bafana.

Woman Married 2 Husbands Same Time For 11 Years

A woman from Delta State who effective­ly hid her adulter­ous relationship from her husband, Lekan Onipede, is now on the run after she viciously attacked him with boiling water and pursued him with a knife.

The woman, Rosemary David, had a son for Onipede, a 31-year-old indigene of Ondo State, about 11 years ago, when he was 20. While still living with him under the concept of common law mar­riage, and in what would appear to be a case of polyandry, she allegedly hooked up with another man in Delta State and had two other children (a boy and a girl) with the man, and then passed them off as Onipede’s children.

Over the years, David perfectly juggled the two ‘husbands’ in Ondo and Delta states, co-habit­ing with one or the other in a near seamless manner until the bubble burst, and set the stage for the heinous attack on Onipede after accusing him of adultery.

The tale began when David who was living with her parents in Ore, Ondo State, got into a relationship with Onipede and became pregnant.

With Onipede insistent on not allowing her abort the pregnancy, she dropped out of school and later gave birth to a baby boy. Af­ter the birth of the baby, Onipede relocated to Lagos to study at a technical school and also seek means of earning income to sup­port David and the baby. While Onipede struggled to find his feet in Lagos, David alternated be­tween living with her parents and Onipedes’ parents in Ondo State on the one hand and her aunt in Delta State on the other hand.

Two years later, Onipede completed his training at the technical school at Abule-Ado, Lagos State, got a job and then invited David to come and live with him. This began their ‘mar­ital’ journey. A few weeks later, David informed him that she was pregnant. Quite upset with the news, Onipede expressed his dis­pleasure, but promised to do his utmost to cater for the family.

As it would later turn out, David regularly traveled to Delta State to visit her aunt and her mother, during which she would stay for three weeks or one month. She continued to make the frequent visits to Delta State until she gave birth to a third child.

The first twist in the tale occurred four years ago, when Onipede and his elder brother attended a wedding in Delta State, where they met one of the brothers of David and his friend named Okey.

When Okey learnt that David was married to Onipede, he laughed scornfully and said: “Okay, let’s see after the wedding because we have something to talk about.” Okey exchanged numbers with Onipede and they kept in touch.

When the duo spoke, Okey told Onipede that his ‘wife’ had another husband in Delta State. Despite the protestations of Onipede, Okey challenged him to trail David to Delta whenever she embarks on another visit to the state. Still unbelieving, he did not act on the advice until the 2014 Easter period when David traveled to Delta State with the third baby.

Onipede called Okey, who urged him not to believe David’s story of going to visit her aunt. Acting on this advice, Onipede trailed David to Delta State and spent three days searching for her. On the third day, he finally saw her with another man. Heartbro­ken, Onipede returned to Lagos the same day, after discovering his wife’s infidelity.

Recalling what he overheard in the bar that night, Onipede told Sunday Sun: “As I sat at the bar monitoring my wife, one of the men seated there said that he did know what Rosemary always went to do in Lagos. Every time, she would go to Lagos and leave her husband here at home. I am sure it is because of the first wife of the man she is married to. I returned home, I took my two children that Rosemary left behind for blood test since DNA test is expensive. The only child who had the same blood group as my was the first child I had with Rose in secondary school. When she came back from Delta, I told her that I got a new job and said that she should go and do a blood group test as the company required the whole family to do such. When she did it, the second and third children had the same blood group but it was not the same with their mother’s blood group or mine. That was when I knew the children were not mine.”

Based on this discovery, Oni­pede told David he didn’t want anything to do with her again. She left for her parent’s place in Ore with the children.

Despite the separation he con­tinued to cater for the children. Then one day David called and said she wanted to visit Lagos to buy jewellery and sell in Ore, Ondo State. Out of a sense he told her to stay in his apartment to ease her accommodation problem while in Lagos. Upon her arrival, she tried to perform her wifely duties, like cooking and cleaning. To discourage her, he casually mentioned that he was in a relationship with a young lady, who was already pregnant for him and would give birth soon. ­
The revelation enraged David and she extracted the lady’s number from Onipede’s phone. She then called and threatened her. David allegedly made several unsuccessful ef­forts to start up a fight between her and Onipede. On Friday of that week, he left for work and deliberately stayed back in the office to avoid her. But on Saturday night she called him and pleaded with Onipede to return home because she needed money to make up her fare to Delta State. The next day, he went home and gave her the money she wanted and laid down on a settee in the room to rest.

It was at this point that David made her Jezebelic move. From behind, she poured a pot of boil­ing water on his back. When he screamed and turned towards her, she did the same to his stomach. With his body severely scalded, Onipede rushed out, calling his landlady for assistance. She advised him to go to the Police station to file a report. Mounting his motorcycle, Onipede headed to the police station as David continued to rain curses on him. Enraged that he left her in the house, David allegedly picked up a knife, flagged down a motorcy­clist and instructed him to follow Onipede’s motorcycle. With both motorcycles trapped in traffic, she continued to hurl insults on Oni­pede while passers-by watched her. Soon enough, people who didn’t know the facts joined in insulting him for sleeping with a prostitute and not paying her. The apparent support of the by-stand­ers fueled David’s anger, prompt­ing her to pick up a plank by the roadside and almost hit him with it before she was over-powered by some men who promised to deal with him instead. As the argument was still going on, Rose brought out the knife and tried to stab him. Upon seeing that she had been held back, Onipede told the sudden roadside jury that David was his wife and he was heading to the hospital to treat burns he got after she poured hot water on him. Instantly, the people turned against her and forcefully dragged her to Area K Police Station, Okokomaiko.

She was promptly arrested, detained and asked to make a written statement. As this pro­gressed, Onipede’s burn wounds had become critical necessitating the police to transfer him to Ikeja General Hospital, where he was given proper medical attention.

The next twist in the tale happened when the brother of the lady, who is a policeman attached to the Iyana-Ira Police Station allegedly facilitated her release by taking somebody else to the station to secure bail for her. Though David promised at the police station to apologise to Oni­pede, she never did so or bother to visit him at the hospital.

“I never knew she was going to react like this or even get angry. We are no longer together so I was shocked when she took the news personal and attacked me with hot water. Actually I saw the pot in the bedroom but I never checked what was in it,” Onipede said, recalling that terrible day.

As it stands now, the police are said to be making efforts to track down David who is on the run.

8 Signs You're Under Spiritual Attack And 3 Steps To Freedom

f you're trying to advance the kingdom of God in some capacity, you can bet you will come up spiritual attacks.

Many people are facing spiritual struggles as they attempt to advance in the things of God. One of the primary tricks of the enemy is to get a person deceived and not realizing the depth of what is taking place in their lives.


Oftentimes people assume that the struggle they are facing is just a natural battle yet just beneath the surface there is something far more complex taking place. They are under a spiritual attack!

What Is A Spiritual Attack? A spiritual attack is a series of events coordinated by the demonic realm in order to abort promises, shipwreck faith, oppress a believer and stall out destiny.

Paul reminds us: "lest Satan should take advantage of us. For we are not ignorant of his devices" (2 Cor. 2:11)

The Bible tells us that the devil has various plots and schemes he uses against human beings. Many people wrongly assume that Satan is silly, yet he has been studying the thoughts, actions and behavior of humanity since the beginning of time. He knows how to tempt people.

His minions are masters at pushing the right buttons at the right time! We must not be ignorant to the strategies of the enemy. We can not live our lives with our spiritual eyes shut. We must walk in the spirit and be aware of what is taking place around us.

How can you identify a spiritual attack? Here are eight symptoms of an attack:

1. Lack of spiritual passion.

The enemy comes to steal your tenacity for the things of God. Suddenly your prayer life seems stalled. Your commitment is tested and you can't seem to push though. You feel as though you are just going through the motions.

2. Extreme frustration.

During a spiritual attack the enemy uses a variety of circumstances to oppress the mind and bring great frustration. A person who is under siege finds themselves on edge and anxious.

3. Confusion about purpose.

During a spiritual attack there is often great confusion about spiritual direction. This is one of the chief goals of an attack, to get a believer out of destiny. That wrong move begins by bringing confusion.

4. Lack of peace.

The enemy bombards the mind with various thoughts and ongoing temptation in order to rob peace. The mind becomes irritated and exhausted. The enemy does all that he can to bring mental fatigue.

5. Unusually sluggish and tired.

A lack of energy and vitality are often the result of an extended attack. Certainly these issues can occur with natural problems, lack of sleep or health battles. In this case though, the root cause is the effect of prolonged spiritual battles.


6. Strong urge to quit assignment.

Every believer is born with unique purpose. As God created a purpose for each believer, He also gave unique gifts and grace to fulfill that plan. When a person is living in the high calling, they will prosper in various areas: They will receive financial blessing by excelling in the area that God has called them to. They will feel satisfied and fulfilled living out their destiny.

Simply put, the enemy hates when a believer is boldly walking out their purpose and plan. He does all that he can to MOVE the Christian away from their destiny. During an attack he will overwhelm them with thoughts and desires to give up and abandon their post! This is one of his greatest purposes behind spiritual attacks.

7. Drawn back towards old bondages.

In a long spiritual battle a person is often pulled back towards negative cycles that they broke free from. The enemy wants to enslave them once again in the same old bondages. If he can discourage them bad enough to give into sin that they were free from then he can loose shame and condemnation upon them causing them to spiral down into deeper defeat.

8. Questioning direction and call that was one so clear.

As the enemy attacks the life of a believer he begins to give them reasons to give up on the very thing that God called them to. This is one of his master tools. He releases confusion, shame, intimidation and a variety of vile schemes to create a cloud of uncertainty.
Again, his ultimate goal is to get a believer off the pathway of destiny, A person who is under attack may find themselves deeply questioning the road that they are traveling. Usually they begin to reexamine decisions that were once crystal clear.

Oftentimes a person in the midst of an attack will question prophetic words, spiritual breakthroughs and significant experiences that they had. This is a step towards moving backwards in the Spirit.


3 KEYS TO FREEDOM

Here the are three keys to your freedom:

1. Break it with faith: You've got to believe inside you that you can be free from that attack.

2. Break it with prayer: Device a prayer scheme. Get a prayer partner. Go to a praying church.

3. Break it with resistance. Submitting yourself to God and keeping that "weak spot" in perspective is the best way to resist it. If immorality is your problem, you shouldn't be alone with a girl in a room.

The enemy loves to remain hidden. He deceives and tries to fly under the radar but the Lord is shining His powerful light upon the attacks! Spiritual eyes are being opened and freedom is coming forth. Exercise your authority and break the attack today!

How PDP Leaders Betrayed Jonathan

Further details emerged at the weekend as to the factors that informed the decision of top bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to betray President Goodluck Jonathan at the just-concluded March 28 presidential election.

Insiders in the party said at the weekend that the “age factor” played a major role in forcing a number of the top echelons of the party to drop their guards at critical points and in some cases allow some untoward things happen to the votes.

A source described the “age factor” as the age-related campaign mounted by the PDP in a bid to checkmate president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.

It was learnt that in a bid to draw attention to the fact that a 73-year-old should not be allowed to preside over Nigeria’s affairs, the PDP went too far and in the process forced its chieftains into believing that there would be no hope of being allowed to contest the presidential election in 2019.

According to sources within the party, constant references to the fact that the PDP believes in the younger generation and that it would ensure that those to take over from Jonathan would be younger than him alienated a number of chieftains who immediately lost interest in mounting a vociferous campaign.

A source stated that President Jonathan himself played into the hands of those who betrayed him when he repeatedly mentioned the age factor and the role age would play in determining his successor in 2019, if he succeeds in winning the 2015 election.

According to the calculations, President Jonathan’s declaration would automatically disqualify the like of Vice-President Namadi Sambo; Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido; Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, Senate President David Mark, National; Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu and the Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda from the 2019 race.

It was learnt that following repeated mentioning of the age factor, the camps of many bigwigs became jittery and lukewarm towards the Jonathan campaign, thus paving the way for the All Progressives Congress(APC) candidate.Though Governor Aliyu said last week that Jonathan’s refusal to respect the single term pact he had with the governors led to PDP’s defeat, information gathered at the top hierarchy of the part have confirmed the real issues.

“I was with one of the top brass during the campaign, and I saw his countenance when the president mentioned the issue of age and suggested that the PDP would ensure the emergence of a younger successor for him if he wins the 2015 election. I recall the man was cold and that was the way it affected all other chieftains, who began to feel what would be in the offing for them if they frontally backed Jonathan to the Presidency in 2015,”a source said.

The source stated that Aliyu could not be trusted, because he was in Lagos to attend the PDP Governors’ Forum meeting a week before the election and canvassed for his re-election at the meeting.

Meanwhile, some other conspiracy theories have started trending at the weekend revealing the grand plot that knocked Jonathan out of the contest.

A document entitled: “Let them know that we know” indicated that alleged massive conspiracy that led to Jonathan’s ouster.

The document read in part: “In a gradual process, we will say things the way they were, we will speak of the conspiracy that even the closest ally of President Jonathan entered into in the dark against our people.”

The document alleged that the result from Bauchi State was at a stage reading 457,786, for APC and 559,897 for the PDP but that when the anti-Jonathan agenda was allegedly ignited, the figures changed.

It made similar allegation about Kano, indicating that the PDP had scored close to half a million votes and was closely trailing the APC before things purportedly changed.
