Girl born with 'elephant trunk' deformity is worshipped like a god in India

Villagers in Uttar Pradesh have flocked to see the 'divine' baby even after doctors warned a genetic mutation may be to blame




A baby girl is reportedly being worshipped like a god in India after she was born with a facial deformity resembling an elephant's trunk.

Villagers near Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, have flocked to see the 'divine' girl in the belief she is an incarnation of the elephant-headed god Ganesha.

They have continued despite doctors warning her condition may well be a genetic mutation, Asian News International reported.

The newborn's aunt, named as Rajani, told the news agency: "My sister-in-law gave birth to a girl and her face looks exactly like Lord Ganesha.

"Everybody is saying she is an incarnation of the god.

"This is why whoever hears about her is coming here to get a glimpse of the baby and are making whatever offerings possible."

The girl, who was reportedly born at 7am on Thursday, is said to be the fourth child in a so far ordinary and healthy family.

Her facial lump is between her eyes and appears to have divided her nose in two when the girl was still in the womb.

Doctors will examine the baby girl to find out the extent of her condition and whether they need to operate.

They have warned the condition could be a genetic mutation triggered by malnutrition and increased pollution, ANI reported.

A 2003 report by the environmental magazine Down to Earth said workers in Aligarh, an industrial zone, faced poor sewage works and 'nightmarish working conditions'.

Ganesha is one of the best-known gods in Hinduism and is worshipped by millions as the deity of wisdom and intelligence.

Dear LNB readers: Why can't men send nudes?

Hi LIB family, I am Jane, and I'd like to understand certain things. So many times I've been in relationships and after few months, sometimes just weeks, and sometimes just days, men start demanding for nude pictures. I'll never forget the first time a man I dated asked for 'sexy' pictures. I just took some really sexy pictures with my clothes on. In my mind I had done something I felt he'd appreciate,  next ping I saw was "baby thanks for the pictures but why do you still have your clothes on?" Then reluctantly,  I pulled the top off and showed my bra...and then he sent a smiley face and said "take off your shorts pleeeaaassse,  or better still take off the everything". Then coz I was stupid and young and trying to keep my man, I sent him nudes. Now am older and more experienced in dating and I've realized that women do really silly things in a bit to keep their men.
Recently I decided to take some chill from being in any relationship and just allow different men ask me out, I've refused to sleep with anyone or do any silly thing I've done in the past, I've decided to also put demands on these men. Currently I have 3 men asking me out, one of which has known me for over 10 years since I was 15. Just as I expected they've all asked for nudes, and I asked for nudes also. One of them said that there's nothing sexy for me to see, and I replied you can show me your d***k, then he said he has never sent any lady nudes and in fact no lady had ever asked him for nudes, I told him that he should start with me, he should go to his bathroom and be creative coz that's the same thing he expects from me. He got really mad and didn't speak to me for days, later he started talking and acting like all was well again. He hasn't asked me for nudes again coz I told him that I'd send if he sends first. None of these men sent the nudes and have stopped asking me for nudes coz each time they ask, I also request for mine.

So my question for men is why can't you send nudes? Buh you want nudes..do you know that the ladies (responsible ones) also find it difficult to actually send these pictures?

Pictures of baby born with two horns in Osun state

The atmosphere in the maternity centre was serene. There was nothing suggesting the occurrence which took the reporter there. Nurses on duty were courteous but grew cautious and suspicious when it was obvious the reporter was not a patient. Why is he here?

The birth of a new born baby would normally elicit joy and excitement in people. It is more so when the mother has been longing for it without results for years. But, the reverse was the case in a maternity centre (name withheld) situated at Ifosan area of Ilesa, in Osun State where a woman recently gave birth to a baby with two horns on its head.

A tip had given Saturday Tribune photos of the strange baby, the arrival of which caused fear and trepidation among the nurses and the proprietress of the maternity centre. The tip also described the hospital and the geography of its area of operation.
The description was vivid and accurate enough for Saturday Tribune to locate the health centre without much difficulty. Here is the maternity centre where the baby with two horns was born. Then, there was a thick wall of silence. Nurses on duty would neither deny nor confirm the development. The reporter was tossed up and down and finally landed before the proprietress of the centre. She would not talk unless her identity and that of her hospital were protected. The reporter gave his words.

“It is true the baby was born,” she said, but added that the horror of the event compelled her to instruct her staff to keep sealed lips over the development, with a view to warding off public attention to the centre over the scary baby.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune during the visit on Thursday, the proprietress, (she is called matron by her staff) said the woman who gave birth to this deformed baby was “about 25 years old and she has been without a child for three years.”

She explained that “this woman lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirt of Ilesa. She registered for antenatal service here. So, when she wanted to put to bed, her relatives rushed her here to deliver the baby.

“But we were shocked to the marrow when she eventually delivered the baby with two horns on the head after going into labour for some hours. By the time she was delivered of the baby, it was already dead and we had to separate it from the placenta.

“I have never seen such a terrible creature in my life. So, we helped to pack the dead baby and the placenta and handed them over to them before they left our premises. It was indeed a fearful development and we were saddened about it.

“This is not something we can celebrate. So, I ordered by nurses and other attendants to keep their mouth shut over the incident. But, I am very surprised how you people got to know about it and came here to inquire about it. I do not want anyone to make something unnecessary out of this or create problems for us here,” she stated.

She would not disclose the whereabouts of the woman who delivered the baby. “I cannot give you any details about her. Like I told you, she lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirts of Ilesa and I don’t really know the area and I want you to leave me out of this matter,” she added.

The woman who froze when she was shown the photographs of the baby, however, confirmed its genuineness but asked how Saturday Tribune got them. A staff member of the clinic also showed Saturday Tribune her own photos of the baby taken with her phone.

All efforts to locate the exact location of the baby’s mother and her identity were not successful.
